Description
Wei Bojun (b. 2003, Taichung, Taiwan) is a contemporary artist who graduated
from the Fine Arts Department at the National Taichung University of Education.
In his creative practice, he combines techniques of concrete realism in oil
painting to present deeply surreal environments on the canvas.
Wei’s work operates within an expanding worldview that explores the complex
psychological states of future civilizations – capturing both a profound
technological anxiety and a nostalgic longing for retro-futuristic aesthetics.
Central to his current inquiry is the blurring boundary between bionic and
organic structures. By investigating the inner spiritual worlds of artificial life, his
paintings question whether an artificial being can possess a soul once physical
and sensory differences vanish. Through these themed depictions, Wei observes
the delicate interplay between technology and humanity across different
temporal dimensions.
