Tanya Atanasova
Tanya Atanasova, born in Bulgaria in 1978 and now based in Belgium, is a realist artist known for her captivating large-scale portraits. She completed her Bachelor of Applied Arts at the National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria, graduating with the highest honors. She further honed her craft through an Erasmus year at Sint-Lucas Art Academy in Ghent, Belgium, and a masterclass with renowned artist Eloy Morales in Madrid in 2016.
Working from her studio in Antwerp—a city steeped in art and cultural history—Tanya specializes in storytelling through contemporary realism, particularly in non-traditional portraiture. In 2021, she founded the FiKVA Foundation, where she currently serves as Chair, furthering her dedication to supporting and promoting contemporary realism and figurative art.
Tanya’s work has been widely exhibited in galleries, museums, and art fairs across Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, the United States, and Canada. Her art has been featured in prominent international publications, including Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector, PoetsArtists, BOOOOOOOM, The Guide Artists, Artelibre, Clatia, Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, Ophelia Magazine, 100% EXPO, KunstWerkt, Marike, Ar(t)moire, Hyperrealism Magazine, and KunstKrant. She is also involved in Dr. Samuel Peralta’s Lunar Codex project.
In addition to her practice, Tanya serves as a juror for prestigious art competitions, including the Titian Competition (Italy/China), the Altamira Art Prize (USA), the International FiKVA Award for Painters (Belgium) and MiniARTures (Belgium)
