Patricia Schappler

Patricia Schappler is an awarded East Coast artist showing throughout North America. An active member of the Portrait Society of America, the Pastel Society of America, Women’s Caucus for the Arts, and regional societies and associations, Schappler has her awarded work published in magazines and books including Strokes of Genius, Manifest INDA and INPA, Artist and Drawing Magazine, American Art Collector, and Hashtag Magazine.  Her work is in the Collections of the WMOCA, Winchester Hospital, Southern New Hampshire University, Chapel Art Center, and private collections within the US, Ireland, India, and China. The mother of four, she works out of her home studio, and has taught drawing and painting locally at Rivier University, NHIA, and New England College.

‘Perhaps because I grew up with a huge family, I’ve always looked to home as central; using the bible, myth, lore, and fairytale to enter my paintings.  A home is filled with laughter, order and chaos, love and turmoil.  These themes pervade. I look at contrasts: light and dark, joy and loss, power and fragility.  It is here within the process of painting; of creating, destroying and resurrecting, that I find clarity.  Making provides a place to see.’
