One of the first of these archives landed on the Moon in February 2024, the first successful US landing in over 50 years. Its contents, laser-etched on nickel microfiche, are expected to last up to a billion years. The camera on the lunar lander Odysseus which took all the photos of the historic landing was officially named “Lunar Codex” in honor of this cultural heritage project.
